My Kickass Workout Weapon of Choice

I just got back to my desk after slipping out for an hour of fun, adventurous butt-kicking (my own). Whenever I have had a little too much fun or strayed away from my healthy lifestyle, I don't fret about it, I take care of it right away (really, I do!). So this morning, after a weekend of catching up with girlfriends, eating and drinking a tad too much, I head for the hills – Nordic Walking Poles in hand.

Nordic skiers are among the fittest athletes on the planet and walking poles are a cross training tool used by competitive Nordic skiers to stay in shape in the off-season. Here are some workout ideas for you...

Athleta Announces Their 2011 Featured Athletes!

Adventurous. Soulful. Passionate. Fun!

Athleta is a brand that I am excited about. I love the fact that the clothes are functional, fun, and make me run faster! Well, okay, perhaps I exaggerate a tiny bit...however, when you wear clothes that feel good, look good, and wick away the sweat, you are comfy and in the mood to do a little bit more. This is why I am so excited that Athleta has included me to be a part of their 2011 Team of Featured Athletes!

Don't Let the Cold Weather Put Your Outdoor Workouts on Ice

Moreover, winter weather often drives people into the gym, so you’re likely to have the trail to yourself. Cold temperatures, snow and ice all pose risks you need to prepare for, however. See the Outdoor Fitness Winter Sports Workout.

Don't let the cold weather dampen your fitness program.  Here are simple tips to keep you on-track all winter long.

Here at OutdoorFitness.com we have a saying - "There's no such thing as inappropriate weather, only inappropriate clothing." That's to say, if you dress right for the conditions, you should be just fine. Since 1995, I've only had to cancel classes twice due to weather - once due to high winds (and flying branches) and the other due to lightning.

Here are a few tips I wrote for the Athleta Chi Blog - designed to keep you warm and moving!

Buyer Beware: “Toning” Shoes

Are 'toning shoes' all hype or can they help?

I was recently interviewed by a local news channel regarding “toning shoes”.  Unfortunately, my comments were  edited  almost beyond recognition to meet their agenda.  Now that I will be writing  a bimonthly column for Outdoor Fitness, I thought what better way to clarify what I really said than here!
